Legal Question in Banking Law in New Hampshire

withdrawing funds

My daughter had a savings account with her father as a co-signer because the account was opened when she was a minor. The other day, she found out her father had removed all the money from the account without her knowledge or permission. Is this a civil court issue or a criminal court issue. The amount taken was just under $2000. She is also 19 years old if that makes any difference.

Thank you.

Re: withdrawing funds

He was a co-signer. There was nothing illegal about his withdrawal at all. What was the source of the funds originally? Are you no longer married to him?

Re: withdrawing funds

Typically, a cosigner has legal access to the funds in the account at issue. However, if you can provide us with more additional facts regarding the type of account it was and where the monies came from to fund it in the first place, we should be able to assist you from there. For a free phone consultation, contact us directly today.
