Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in New Hampshire

If I rented a house for 8 months, and moved out as soon as I could due to the fact it was unsafe, having multiple heath and building code violations. Though I left the house in better shape than when we moved in the landlord is refusing to return my security deposit.

can I pursue him for all monies paid for rent as well as the security deposit as he never provided a safe place to rent?

Please call my office for a free consultation on this matter. Under RSA 540-A:

You may be entitled to have your landlord pay your attorney's fees, return your security deposit, with interest, and possibly $1,000 in statutory damages. See RSA 358-A.

http://www.gencourt.state.nh.us/rsa/html/XXXI/358-A/358-A-mrg.htm

Among other factors, since there are strict rules for withholding rent due to these types of issues, it is not likely possible to recover your rent money at this point.

Please let us know as soon as possible if we can be of assistance.
