Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New Hampshire

Short sale with name on deed only

My name is on the deed only and my ex transferred a new mortgage to our marital home in his name only. He is planning on a short sale. I should not be legally responsible for any amount on the remaining mortgage if the lender chooses to go after the balance. Should I consult an attorney for the legal paperwork when this occurs?

Re: Short sale with name on deed only

If you are not on the note for the Mortgage then your credit should not be impacted nor should you be responsible for the short sale. However, I would have an attorney review the paperwork so that you are sure you are not impacted by the short sale.
