Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New Hampshire

Siding

We purchased a house in 8/08. In the agreement of sale it stipulated that siding be applied to the entire house. It has been less than a year and we have had leaks, and several siding contractors have said that the job was done poorly and to guarantee that no more leaks will occur they will have to reside the entire house. Do we have a case? Can we sue the previous owners for the $16,000 that we need to side the house?

Re: Siding

It is extremely difficult to answer your question without a careful review of the purchase agreement and the details surrouding the entire transaction. As a first step, have you contacted the contractor who performed the work? Perhaps there is a guaranty of workmanship by the contractor or the manufacturer of the siding.

You may have a case. However, there are many other factors which need to be considered before pursuing the matter further. I would advise meeting with an attorney in order to evaluate the case and your options.
