Legal Question in Business Law in New Jersey

Is it a consider copyright infringement to use a character from film as the name of an application or company? i.e. using the name Anty and it's image (the pet ant character from "Honey, I Shrunk The Kids") for the name of a charging web service.

The short answer is no, but if it appears that you are playing off of that work or creating a false association, endorsement or sponsorship then it could be a problem of course. So this all depends on specifically what you intend here. Using the name all by itself is no problem as copyright does not affix to names, short phrases, etc.
