Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in New Jersey

personal information

can a police officer who likes my girlfriend give her background information about me because he wants her and she asked him to? Even if he is not in the state that we are living in do he have the right to use his power of having access to that type of information and pass it on to her? if i am not under any type of investigation was that legal? if not what can i do to report it?

Re: personal information

It's unclear from this question what type of information is involved and the source from which this police officer is allegedly drawing it(if that in fact is actually occurring).

Nevertheless, irrespective of whatever it may be and from whatever source, your efforts to stop it would appear to be more fruitfully directed at your girlfriend rather than this officer who apparently

doesn't even live in your state of residence.

Re: personal information

It could be illegal. While you may be poking an enormous bee hive, you might report it to that officer's police department. But you need to ask yourself if you are willing to handle whatever consequences result from "telling on" him, or whether you would be better off to just let this go and try to get over it. Good luck.
