Re: wage garnishments

Only one wage attachment at a time is allowed assuming whoever has one now is getting the maximum allowed by law which I'm sure they are. Creditors basically get in line and when one debt is paid off the next one steps into the void and the deductions from your paycheck continue.

I do not do bankruptcy work but perhaps you should at least pay for a consultation with an attorney who does because your credit is probably not great anyway and bankruptcy can help in a way because it gives you a clean slate and you can start rebuiloding your credit now instead of years from now. Also, the is a law being considered in Congress to change the bankruptcy laws in favor of creditors so you may want to file in a hurry while the current law remains in effect.

Good luck.
