Legal Question in Criminal Law in New Jersey

My boyfriend pulled a fire alarm at a police station while we were being held until we "sobered up" he was arrested. We are in Essex cty, nj. I would like to hire an attorney. Any advise would help. Would he face time in prison?

How serious can the charge against him. Unless he is a repeat offender or has a criminal lawyer he should be safe from going to jail if has has a lawyer.
