Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey

adult adoption

At the age of eighteen I was adopted by my mother's ex-husband. Three years later our relationship ended and he told me as far as he was concerned that I was dead. I reestablished my relationship with my biological father who knew nothing of the adoption because I did not need consent. Can I terminated my adoption somehow? Can my father adopt me back?

Re: adult adoption

Your father can file a motion to adopt you. I suggest you see an attorney to help get that done.

Re: adult adoption

I didn't realize you were over 18. At this point, adoption may be a moot issue. Again, I would see an attorney.
