In NJ, bigamy is a disorderly persons offense. Penalties could include up to 180 days in jail and up to $1000.00 fine.

No, it is not a joke, and the punishment is potentially very serious. It is a crime.

Your question is pretty clearly part of some larger issue, and it is very VERY likely that you need accurate legal advice before taking any step.
