Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey

My brother was a police officer who had to retire due to a breakdown from 911. His ex wife gets $3000.00 a month in child support based on his salary when he was working. He now collects SSD in which his children receive a portion. Can he have his child support reduced since he only receives SSD and partial of his pension? Can the money they receive from SSD be their child support?
