Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey

Legal Name Change

Hello,

I'm currently a 23 year old male whose objective is legally change my last name by virtue of shortening. The purposes I have for wishing to change my name are dissatisfaction with given birth name, and the lengthiness, as well to some degree less obvious anti-semetetic affiliation. I've done brief research as my starting process and before I pursued my goal any further my concern was learning more.

In general terms my reasoning for changing my name doesn't appear to be absurd so I would be led to claim that I can have an easy process. The notes by the site said not to include names to keep confidentiality otherwise I would have no problem including it for evaluation. The process also seems to be complicated and lengthy unless I'm mistaken. It appears that you have multiple various government and state agencies, newspapers, and personal accounts with companies to contact for notification of the change. I guess theres no simple form similar to change of mail address notification found at post offices? This seems to take a while and cause chaos.

Re: Legal Name Change

You are correct that the process is a bit confusing. Mostly it involves paperwork and timing of service of notices upon various law enforcement agencies. My office charges a flat rate of $1500.00 for a name change. If you would like to schedule a consultation, please contact my secretary, Debbie, at 856-795-6700.
