Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey

NCP wants visitation after 1 1/2 years

My son is 4 y/o. I left his father in Nov 2005. He was using and distributing drugs from our home, he was phyically and mentally abusive. He locked our son in a room until he would scream and throw up on himself. When I was at work, he refused to feed him. My son still has nightmares about the ''monster''. I have full costody. He never came to court. He never made a support payment. He called my job several times a day harrassing me. He never even sent a card to our son for christmas or his birthday. The court had a contemt hearing this month for non payment of support. He showed and walked out paying $50. on 12,000 owed. Now he wants the support reduced and visitation. That court date is June 21. I am deathly afraid of him, and I am even more afraid of what influence he has over our son. My son finally calls me mom instead of ''phsyco'' and I cant let my son back into that type of environment. I barely survive, and cannot afford a lawyer. I have had past police reports, and restraining orders. He has a past criminal record for drug distribution and assalt. The courts are so lienent these days, what will happen to my son?

There is no way to tell you exactly what would happen in court based on the limited facts you provided. Based on what you did mention, however, he would have a long and hard battle to fight to get some extended visits if your allegations are substantiated.
