Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey

reibursement of child's medical expenses

My ex-husband and I had an amigable divorce in MD, we didn't hired lawers. We verbally agree pretty much on everything, including payment of 1/2 of medical expenses for the 2 children. Well, I guess you know by now that this was a mistake. I got married and he hasn't, so now he refuses to pay for his 1/2 of medical expenses.

This time I hired a lawer, and took him to court in NJ (since we both moved here right after the divorce) The Judge denied the petition of having him pay for the medical expenses. He did increased the child support from 140.00 a week to 206.00. His words were, ''I won't re-write the divorce agreement''

I can appeal but risk the chance of another rejection and have to pay expensive lawyers fee again.

Even thou I am married, I believe this is his responsibility. Especially when I see my husband taking care of his responsibilities with his 2 children, as well.

How do I pursue this issue again? Thanks for your help.

Re: reibursement of child's medical expenses

I do not understand the judge's logis because agreements relatling to child support are subject to modification if a child's need cannot be met without changing the agreement.
