Re: green card process

You do not indicate whether or not you have filed your green card petition or if the I-140 petition is approved. This things are important to determine, the effect of changing your job will have on the green card process. If the green card has not been applied for, and you do not intend to go back to the employer who sponsored you for your green card, then changing employers will likely mean that you have to start the process again.

I recommend that you discuss your case in detail with an attorney to determine where you are in the process and the effects of changing your employer. Please feel free to contact me directly to discuss if you have additional questions.

Re: green card process

From the facts that you've given you do not seem to have a portability option for your GC process. If you change you may have to start again. Now whether you should do this depends on your particular circumstances. For example, how close are you to your 6th year H-1 expiration? Did you file your I-140 and I-485 concurrently or have you only filed your I-140? Feel free to call me to set up a consultation.
