Legal Question in Immigration Law in New Jersey

Hi..Iam an egyptian citizen and am staying here in usa on tourist visa and my I-94 will expire on end of october,,,is it okay if i asked for extension for my visa to stay longer?because my country now is not stable ,,, is it going to work? and if yes when should i ask for extension? before or after my I-94 expires? thanks alot
