Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in New Jersey

I'm a co-signor on an apartment lease with my estranged wife, however I live somewhere else. Divorce proceedings are underway and may be final in a couple months. I've actually been paying her full rent in recent months, which I can't afford. I gave notice to the landlord that I won't be resigning the lease, which ends April 30. The landlord says I'm responsible until my wife also gives notice. I don't know what she is going to do, though I don't think she can afford to live there. I don't want to be liable after the lease runs out. What are my rights and what can I do?
