Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in New Jersey

landlord agreement

Entered into a payment arrangement with landlord, made first payment. On date of second payment informed landlord agreement had math errors and asked to discuss this error. Landlord said no we have an agreement and you must live up to it I thought well since I signed it I must live with the mistake when I wanted to make payment on the weekend landlord demanded cash or money order by 12:00 pm Monday (not spelled out in agreement) informed landlord that getting $1200.00 by that time was impossible I work and so does my wife from 6:00 5:00 and could provide cash when she could make it to her credit union in a few days again not an easy task because of schedule and she would have to take time off from work. On Tues landlord gave us certification of broken agreement and would seek removal. Can landlord demand payment by a certain time and by cash only? And can I pay the monies due per agreement to court, and let them know landlord refused payment by check and demands cash by a certain time.

how long before i can expect before i recieve a writ of possession so i can file a order to show cause and when can i expect a court date i just want to get this behind us and get clarification on payment methods

Thank you

Re: landlord agreement

Was your first payment via check? How about any previous payments? That would weaken any postion of the landlord that your checks were not trustworthy. You certainly have options, but I would need to see this payment arrangement you mentioned to dig much deeper. Please feel free to contact my office for a free consult on this matter.
