Get in touch with Legal Services in Atlantic County. If your apartment is designated as illegal and you are required to move, your landlord has to pay you five or six months rent immediately. Legal Services will be able to help you with that.

NJ has a provision in the Anti eviction act that allows for the Tenant to collect a 6 month relocation allowance. Your landlord will have to go through the eviction process to get you out. The L/T judge should condition the issuance of the judgment of possession with payment of the allowance. Make sure the judge knows and you have proof of the illegal nature of the apartment. Ask for the relocation allowance at trial and in front of the mediator. You can sue in the Special Civil Part for it, but It will be easier for you to do it through the eviction process.
