Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New Jersey

I have a loan commitment for a mortgage and the one item on there that they still needed has been cleared. Now something else is being questioned that is holding everything up. We were assured that we would be cleared to close once that other item was cleared. The loan commitment expires on 9/17/12. What can I do?

You need to deal with whatever the hold up is and as quickly as possible. You need to deal with this aggressively with your mortgage company and, if necessary, get an attorney involved.

Keep in mind that this answer is given based on the scanty information you have provided. My answer may change based on other information. Further, you cannot rely on this answer since you have not retained me as your attorney. To be sure that you have accurate information and direction, you should consult with an attorney. Good luck. If it's the title insurance company that is asking for the information, ask the title insurance company what you have to provide.

THIS RESPONSE IS NOT LEGAL ADVICE, SINCE I DO NOT HAVE ALL OF THE INFORMATION THAT WOULD BE REQUIRED, AND I DO NOT HAVE A REPRESENTATION AGREEMENT WITH YOU.

* If the answers to your question confirm that you have a valid issue or worthwhile claim, your next step should almost always be to establish a dialog with a lawyer who can provide specific advice to you. Contact a lawyer in your county or township.

* Another reason for contacting a lawyer is that it is often impossible to give a good answer in the Internet Q&A format without having more information. The unique circumstances of your situation and things that you may not have thought to mention in your question may completely change the answer. If you want to be sure that you have a complete answer to your question and an understanding of what that answer means, establish a connection with a lawyer who practices in the area of your concern.
