Re: NJ Staute of Limitations - Traffic Violations

The answer depends upon what you mean. There is a time period following the incident during which the police must issue a summons. If the summons is issued in a timely manner, and it is just taking a long time to go to court, then you have to consider why it is taking so long. If it is taking a long time because YOU keep asking for an adjournment, then there is no basis for claiming the court is taking too long. If it is taking a very long time because of the prosecutor's delay, then you can file a motion before the court for a dismissal of the charges. I am an attorney who has handled many cases similar to yours in various courts throughout NJ in the past. Please contact me to discuss your case in more detail. I never charge for simply talking to a person about their case. Thank you.
