Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in New Jersey

In Ocean county NJ, me as Executor of the Estate, Is it a requirement to put and AD on the newspaper to notify creditors if any of my late brother who died over a year ago? Note that I live in MD. If ad on the newspapers, for how long? Or not required?

Thank you,

Not unless there might be unknown obligations that could be asserted against the estate. While the ad does not eliminate the possible liability of the estate, it does relieve you from any personal responsibility if you were to distribute all of the estate assets and there was a late claim made. I would presume that if no one has contacted you for a year there are probably no unknown debts that have not been paid or asserted against the decedent or the estate.
