Legal Question in Workers Comp in New Jersey

My Question is Workmans comp related I,ve hired a lawyer who has told me Since its my Arm its not worth much and to only expect Aprox 9,000. I don't know anything law wise so i agreed i came home and talked with my husband and sister in law and she said she hurt her shoulder and recieved 60.000 and my husband said if a lawyer gives you an amount before even going to court thats not a good thing is he right??
