Legal Question in Discrimination Law in New Mexico

Is it possible to sue someone for defamation of character? we have an ex-tenent/employee that is spreading horrible rumors about my husband and me. She also called the employer of someone we had interviewed to tell her an employee had interviewed with us and almost got the employee fired. She is already involved in two other law suits. Do we have any legal options against her?

The law provides a remedy for defamation of character. They are difficult cases, however, as there must be witnesses willing to testify that they think less of you or have ceased doing business with you as a result of the alleged defamation, and that you suffered economically because of the statements which you must prove to have been defamatory. Consult a personal injury attorney in your area for specific information. Initial consultations are usually done at no charge.
