You cannot "hire" a Public Defender. You must qualify for one because of low income. Quite low. In the case of an aggravated DUI, it is not advisable to represent yourself unless you are totally familiar with the applicable law and court procedures. This is particularly true if you have a prior DUI or serious traffic offense.
