Legal Question in Family Law in New Mexico

My 14 year old granddaughter wants to have me as her legal guardian, is this possible? She lives with her mother and stepfather. The stepfather is very abusive towards the 14 year old, and does nothing to the younger sister. What can I do to help her? They reside in Arizona. She was here for a visit, and doesn't want to go home. I have been to CYFD, sheriff dept., district court house and finally legal aid. No one will give me any answers or help. Am at my wits end on what to do next. Need help?! No one has any kind of paper work to fill out for me to get guardianship. I have one week to do all this or get it started, no one will help. What does it take to get help, or do I have to watch my granddaughter go home and possibly never see her again cause her stepfather kills her, like what happened to the young boy that CYFD kept sending back to his mother?

I have already answered this question previously. However, because you are now alleging that someone, step-father and biological mother, may cause great bodily harm to the child I can only tell you to CALL THE POLICE and report the abuse of the child by the parents. You can also case CPS ---- their website is: https://cyfd.org/child-abuse-neglect/reporting-abuse-or-neglect ----- and CYFDs Statewide Central Intake child abuse hotline (1-855-333-SAFE [7233] or #SAFE from a cell phone),

You can also hire private legal counsel and seek emergency assistance from the court. Understand, you have a heavy burden to carry in such a court case; however, your attorney can explain that to you.

Good Luck.
