Spousal support is support the spouse or former spouse of a person. Child support is often referred to using the term Family support. Spousal support will not include child support. Child support is a separate item from Spousal Support. New Mexico has Spousal Support Guidelines. The guidelines are not mandatory and they are not used in every district. However, as guidelines, they do help lawyers, judges and people seeking to know and learn how alimony in NM is generally determined.
