Legal Question in Disability Law in New York

my husband passed away and he had a home equity loan on our property. Am I responsible as my name is not on the loan agreement.

The problem is if you don't pay for the loan, the creditor may foreclose on the house. Check to see if your husband had insurance to pay for the loan in the event of his death. Otherwise, you may want to pay off the loan with any money you may get from his insurance or other assets. Talk with the mortgage company to tell him of his death. You may be able to refinance the loan.
