Legal Question in Bankruptcy in New York

I received notice, from bankruptcy court, of an "application for an order to pay the following administrative expences" has been submitted by xxxxxxxx as special counsel. Amount of Compensation $2,000.

We have not claimed any funds in the bankruptcy, nor have we signed any papers re: the bankruptcy proceedings.

Is this notice saying that we will be required to pay $2000 to the attorney for an action in which we are not participating?

Hello,

Either your attorney or any professional who has done work on your behalf of the bankruptcy estate's behalf can file an application seeking compensation in the case. This does not mean that you personally pay this fee once/if the fee is approved by the Bankruptcy Judge. What it means is that the trustee will pay the administrative fee (from proceeds you send to the trustee as part of you plan payments). I hope that helps.
