How much will it cost me for a lawyer to send a demand letter regarding inspection rights of a minority shareholder in a private corporation i.e. to get a list of shareholders name and contacts, company by laws, next director election ..?

Most corporate lawyers charge between $250 and $500 per hour. Reviewing the shareholders agreement and drafting the letter would probably take an hour or two. Depending on the percentage of shares you own, you may also want to threaten a proceeding for judicial dissolution pursuant to NY Business Corporation Law Sec. 1104-a. Feel free to call me if you would like some assistance with this.

It is your right to demand the documents. Depending on your need to view same, you may petition the court to enforce a subpoena and sanctions for non-compliance. Again, different methods are available premised on your course and underlying reason for action.

For users of lawguru, I charge a flat fee of $450 to review the bylaws of the company and send a demand letter. Contact me directly.

As my colleague suggested, you need to consult with an attorney admitted to practice in NY to answer such questions. I would be happy to chat with you further. Feel free to contact my office at your earliest convenience.
