Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in New York

3 y/o child pulled fire alarm in doctors office. Doctor has been fined by his landlord for the incident. Can the doctor sue the family to pay the fine. If so there are different fines depending on how many times a false alarm has occured 1st $1500 2nd $2500 subsequent $5000. Is the family responsible for the higher fine if this has happened before with someone else or is the family responsible for only $1500

No court would find the family of a 3 year old liable for an act of the 3 year old...Unless the parents were found to have let the child pull the alarm. I am not aware of the setting and how the child got access to the alarm (maybe the infant stood on a chair that was located below the alarm?) If so, that's the MD's bad. Shouldn't keep anything around that could be used to trip the alarm...but that's just me thinking out loud. Answer is NO. By NO I mean the court will PROBABLY not find the family liable...but can he sue...YES he can. Anyone can sue anyone at anytime for anything...the question is would they win? I don't think so.
