Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in New York
My aunt recently gifted me a vehicle. All legal and correct DMV forms here in New York have been filed including DTF-802 for gifting a vehicle. However, now my aunt wants me to sign a promissory note agreeing to make payment on this vehicle. Can she do this? Is this legal? Can she take me to court? Do I have any rights? I told her that she already signed a DMV form gifting the vehicle to me, she replied that that didn't matter.
