Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in New York

Ok so I just filed a Motion to Compel Discovery with the courts today. Im being sued by a creditor from a card I had several years back. I took a template from a website and just inserted my local laws and requests I was making. I had already made several attempts in collecting this information on my own with certified letters and phone calls. I inserted the letters with the motion that I had already sent to the Plaintiffs attorney with copies of the delivery confirmation. After I left the court I started to get concerned. Are there any draw backs to this motion if the judge denies my request? Can this come back to bite me in the ***? If the judge denies my motion where do i go from here? How can I properly represent myself if I have no idea what the Plaintiff is bringing to the table? Suit is in NY.

You are entitled to discovery...unless this is small claims court.

I do not see any drawback.
