Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York

A week ago a detectives called me and told me I had been accused of grand larceny but would not go into details. He seemed nice enough and arranged something so that I can come in on my day off (Sunday) at 12:00am so I can spend minimum time in booking. I asked on the phone what the charges were for he would not disclose that information to me, instead he told me we would discuss it when I come down (tonight). Please I would like urgent legal advice as to what I should do, this is in SUFFOLK county NEW YORK. I do not have a prior history of any crimes or felonies.

You must hire a criminal defense attorney before going down to the precinct. Do not do it on your own, have an attorney handle it.

I absolutely agree with Ms. Gendelman. Retain a criminal defense attorney and have him or her call the detective first.
