school suspencion

under what grounds is a school allowed to suspend a student

. and are there procedures that the school must follow before they can suspend students,no violence towards any

student or teacher has been commited. just disruptive

behavior in the class room.

I note by your ZIP code that you are in Seaford, NY.

NY State law provides that a Principal may suspend a student for up to five (5) school days.

The parent or guardian is entitled to a hearing.

Disruptive classroom behavior is certainly a valid reason. Has the school been in contact with you prior to the suspension to change the behavior? If not, you may have a valid basis to request that other actions precede the suspension, which should be the last resort.
