Legal Question

im am 17 and will be turning 18 in about 5 months and can no longer or willing to live under my mothers roof , she is emotionally and can some times get phsycally abusive towards me. she also states if i do not like it under her roof i can feel free to leave. I have a family friend who is willing to take me in. with all of this can i legally leave??
