Legal Question in Family Law in New York

Grandparent Visitation

I have in laws that do not care for me. They have made it very difficult for me communicate with them due to thier extreme hatred. I was just served papers requiring me to go to court and possiblt allow them visitation. I encourage a relationship between them and my kids I just cant risk the grandparents contiually telling the kids how bad thier father is. I need to know what I have as far as a defense here. I am fully prepared to let them come and visit at my home to avoid any potential mud slinging but I am not interested in having the kids being alone to hear bad stuff about me. Any advice?

Re: Grandparent Visitation

Generally, the parents have ultimate control over visitation of children by grandparents. This is something you shoud discuss with yoru lawyer, and your husband.

I hope that all workes out for the best of all parties, and especially the child(ren).
