Legal Question in Family Law in New York

I live in New York State. My husband moved out and I believe he will be trying for a legal seperation and /or divorce. I inherited land and money from my parents. I put 40,000 down on our home and have vacation property. I received this after the marriage. Does my husband have any right to this.

A spouse does not have any right to inherited money or property. However, the line can get blurred if you purchase property with inherited money and that money is only a partial payment on the property - if, in other words, you comingle the inherited funds with marital funds. You should consult with a local divorce attorney to discuss your situation in detail.
