Legal Question in Civil Litigation in New York

Is This A Case of Libel?

A signed letter has been circulated among a number of my acquaintences (and perhaps others)calling me an unsavory character, specifically a "peeping tom". I am certain that the letter writer hasn't a shred of evidence to support this claim since it is completely false. What can I do to defend my good name?

I received your post on 9-12-2000.

In the event that this letter has damaged your reputation, it would appear to be defamation. The best bet is to contact an attorney to advise the person to cease and advise you of your legal standing. The exact contents of the letter must be known for an attorney to properly advise you.

Good Luck
