Legal Question in Civil Litigation in New York

Litigation

Hi,

I've read somewhere that if person A threatens to sue person B, either orally or in print, then person A ''must'' carry out the threat or person A can be sued by the person B for not following through with the threat.

Is this true?

This is in connection where a person wrote something offensive about a group of people on a blog, not racial, and a person of that group responded with a threat of suit.

Re: Litigation

Not true.

You are never forced to sue someone just because you said you would. Even if you filed a claim you could withdraw it.
