Legal Question in Insurance Law in New York

I went to the ER.I called my insurance and they said the hospital is in network. I paid all the co pays already. This doctor is now billing me for more money because the hospital used an out of network doctor. I asked the doctor to redo the bills as in network and he did. The insurance company sent two checks plus I sent one for him. N ow he wants more ( 8600.00).

I did not know he was out of network or how much he is charging. I think this practice is wrong. How can I stop him from placing the bill in collections?

There is no way to stop that. You can try to dispute the amount arguing the hospital made the error nor were you advised he was out of your insurance network.

Tough issue because he did take care of you.
