Legal Question in Employment Law in New York

Social Security ID Theft

My son, who is 20, has applied for a job. The security check that was run by the company turned up the name of a man in California that is using his Social Security Number. We have reported this to the credit bureaus and the government agencies, but can he be denied the job for this?

Re: Social Security ID Theft

He can be denied a job for a lot of reasons. There is no law stopping this from being one of them, however the boss would have to be pretty stupid to let a potentially good employee go because someone has victimized him. If in fact that happens, it is better he find out what a jerk the guy is upfront.

Good Luck.
