Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in New York

Is my lease void?

I signed a lease with a friend of mine and we moved into an apartment as roomates. We had some problems and he was kicked out of the apartment soon to be replaced by another friend. I demanded a new lease and refused to pay rent until i got one. Four months later i am finally being evicted and i am being sued for back rent. i want to know if that lease can still be enforced even though one of its signers no longer lives there and i demanded a new updated lease. Was the lease void when my roomate moved out?

Re: Is my lease void?

IT depends upon the wording of the lease, but I doubt the lease was voided when your friend moved out.
