If my roommate and I sign a lease but my roommate doesn't pay am I liable?

It is impossible to determine your liability without seeing the lease. However, as a general proposition, in most contracts, the signors are jointly liable. So, more likely than not, you should be held liable for the entire matter.

I recommend you take the contract to an attorney to obtain a definite answer regarding your liability.
