Legal Question in Legal Malpractice in New York

If I were represented in a lagal matter by a law firm who also represented the others sides and I lost due to the lawyers who representing me not moving forward in a timely manner, do I have a case aganist them? My injury claim was for $1,000,000.00

I'm baffled as to how you could be represented by a firm that also represented the other side - but leaving that question for the moment:

You would have a claim if you could show that a) but for the negligence of your attorney you lost the case, AND b) that with a competent attorney you would have won.
