Legal Question in Personal Injury in New York

in March 2012 my

13 daughter was riding our 4-wheeler in some fields with her friends. She missed a turn to go into the next field which brought her out to the side of the road where she hit someone who was running down the road. She did not see them in time due to bushes and this person is very small. The injured party suffered head laceration and broken ankle.this person is now sueing us.There is no insurance coverage because the 4-wheeler is not licensed/registered.My question is what will happen now.Our home still has a mortgage...we have a vehicle we are still paying on...what assets we have maybe total $10,000.00.What will they do to us ?/ Thank you

Your best bet is to place your homeowner's insurance carrier immediately on notice regarding this incident. You should have an attorney look in to your coverage and also head to high gear should any negotiations be warranted to have this matter go away without further damage.
