Legal Question in Personal Injury in New York

Yesterday, while changing lanes, I hit another car in ny blind spot. We were on local roads traveling at low speed, so damage to my car is very minimal. The other car was dented twice. No one was hurt. I agreed to submit a claim for their vehicle to my insurance. We did not file a police report.

I am wondering if having a police report would benefit me or provide any future protection.

Thank you.

Jason A. Richman, Esq. here. No the police report would not be of benefit to you now. You need to file a MV-104 form self reporting the collision though.
