Re: Deed

I'd add only one thing to the prior answer; if your new name is a result of a legal name change proceeding and not a divorce, it would be wise to have the deed reflect your new name.

Re: Deed

Usually not. A women can change her name through marriage - which happens frequently. The new mortgage would be jane doe a/k/a jane ______.thus both names would be included on the mortgage, so that there would not be any confusion between deed and mortgage.

Sometimes lenders would require an affidavit to go along with the mortgage/deed.

It is a very simple matter and very inexpensive.
