Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New York

In a Manhattan Co - OP if I am turning a closet into a powder room is it required to be ADA compliant - I have a 2ft 4 inch door now on my closet - my architect said I need a 2FT 10 inch door...Also can you have a vanity right next to a wall mounted tiolet - she seems to say its not compliant....I have found some opinios that say ADA refers only to public spaces not private residence...

what is really the law?

The law does not require a private bathroom to be ADA compliant.

I have extensive experience dealing with coop boards and managing agents and ADA. Write back ([email protected]) if you'd like my help. My rate is low for a case of this kind but I'm not going to publicize how low in this forum.
