We have not paid ou mortgage in 2 1/2 years. How long does a mortgage company let you stay in the house until you get an eviction notice?

Mortgage companies are slow in commencing foreclosure actions because of the volume of actions.

In the meantime you can stay in the house and not pay mortgage, taxes etc

After you are served with foreclosure papers, you should contact a lawyer immediately. He can either stop the foreclosure action, delay it, or reach a settlement with the mortgage company.

Another option would be to file a chapter 13 bankruptcy which would allow you 60 months to get caught up, if y ou qualify. This also delays the foreclosure.

After the Judgment of foreclosure, and title is transferred it can take less then a month for your to be evicted,
